One of the best chicken salad sandwiches has gone missing. The Pecan Chicken Salad Sandwich, from the Market Fresh line of sandwiches at Arby’s, is no longer on the menu. I guess this was done to make room for more roast beef with the Roastburgers. I’m sure this pains maybe 3% of the GrubGrade audience but it’s a sad day for me. It’s no longer on the Arby’s website menu and I tried 3 locations recently and they are no longer carrying it. This is terrible news.
Denny’s is offering a free Slamwich, with purchase of Grand Slam Breakfast, today, Wednesday April 8 from 6AM to 2PM. The Slamwich is a grilled breakfast sandwich made with potato bread, scrambled eggs, shaved ham, hash browns, bacon, mayo, American cheese and a “maple-spice” spread. Regularly priced at $4.99. (while supplies last)
MaggieMoo’s Ice Cream is giving away one single-scoop of ice cream on April 15, 2009 in honor of Tax Day. The “ice cream social” will take place throughout the day nationwide at participating locations. If you have never tried their ice cream, this will be a great opportunity to give it a taste.
Boston Market has recently expanded it’s menu with Crispy Country Chicken items. Actually it was back in February but I’m just now starting to see TV spots for it.
The Crispy Country Chicken meal is a breaded and baked chicken breast topped with gravy and served with cornbread and a choice of two sides for $7.29. The Crispy Country Chicken sandwich comes with a creamy Dijon spread, lettuce and tomatoes on whole-grain bread or a white baguette and is $6.49. This new Crispy Country Chicken can also be added to a Caesar or chopped salad.
Crispy Country Chicken in a sandwich
While the self-proclaimed “chicken experts” at Boston Market are primarily known as a rotisserie chicken place, I’m liking this expansion into new territory.

On February 3rd, Denny’s gave away around 2 million Grand Slam breakfasts. Now, coming to a Denny’s near you, the “Pass Along Grand Slam Kindness” promotion hopes to bring in some extra customers. From 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, you can get a free Grand Slamwich for “a friend” when you order a Grand Slam for yourself. So in a nutshell, just bring in a party of at least 2 and get hooked up with free food.
The Grand Slamwich consists of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, ham, mayo and American cheese grilled on potato bread with a maple spiced spread. It is served with hash browns, and costs $4.99 at most Denny’s locations. It’s “everything you love about the Grand Slam. Now in a sandwich.”
April 29th, mark you calendars!!! Between 5pm and 10pm Baskin Robbins will reduce the price of a small cone to 31 cents. So hopefully the 29th will be a nice warm spring evening and you can enjoy some delicious ice cream for a ridiculously low price. Not only will you be saving money but you will be contributing to a good cause. On this night Baskin Robbins will be making a $100,000 donation to the National Volunteer Fire Council National Junior Firefighter program. This program provides the tools and resources for fire departments to promote local programs to the youth. The youth learn about all aspects of firefighting services and this in turn becomes a great recruiting tool for future firefighters.
So on April 29th, don’t forget to get yourself some ice cream and help out a good cause at the same time.
